Are you feeling like this?
These can be some of the common signs of constipation during Menopause.
So are you after natural relief for Menopausal constipation? First of all you need to find the cause of what is causing the constipation.
There are different reasons why this occurs. As you age your body slows down, this can slow down your overall digestion, leading to constipation. Of course there is the hormone issue or imbalance of hormones when going through Menopause that can also affect your digestion. Lack of water and fibre, this is really common, not exercising enough, your digestive tract is made up of muscles. Over use of laxatives.
Lack of fibre is very common, being on a typical western diet, fibre intake isn’t usually enough.
One other cause for constipation during Menopause can be from an under active thyroid, if you are not absorbing nutrients, you can read more here about this. The thyroid gland shaped like a butterfly is like a sponge, it requires lots of nutrients to function at its best. Here is another post if you would like to read more.
Here is a simple gut transit time test you can do in the privacy of your own home, I get nearly every client to do this. Mix 2 TBS of sesame seeds with something slushy like yoghurt, stewed apple or mashed avocado, swallow without chewing. Record the date & time, observe for polka-dot-poop – record first appearance BE AWARE: First appearance isn’t always clearance so you need to keep observing and recording of date & time if more appear. A healthy transit time is between 14-24 hours.
If you try these tips and are still having issues then you probably have some underlying cause that needs to be addressed. Hair tissue mineral analysis testing is a great way to see what mineral imbalances you may have that can be a cause of constipation. An over load of toxic minerals can also have the same affect and can be the cause of other health issues.
